Specification for
Royal Mersey Restricted Class

Scantlings shall not be less than the following finished sizes:-

Keel 3 ½ in. thick in wake of centreboard case.
Transom 1 1/4 in. sided.

Timbers, all steamed, 1 ¾ x 1 1/8 in. spaced 9 inches centre to centre at heels. All timbers to be properly joggled into keel when practicable where they do not cross same.

Floors, not less than four grown floors 3 in. x 2 ½ in. at throats tapered to ends. Iron knees galvanized 2 in. x 3/8 in. Three to be fitted each side of centreboard case. Total length not to be less than 7 ft. 6 in. on each side.

Centreboard case, Sides 1½ in. thick.
Planking - One inch finished on the boat. Hood ends to be not less than ¾ in. allowing fair taper.
Clamps - 4 in. x 1 in. tapered to 3 in. at ends.
Bilge Stringers – 3 ½ in. x 1 in. tapered to 2 in. at ends.
Decks caulked not less than 1 1/8 in. finished, Decks covered with canvas or linoleum, not less than 7/8 in. finished without covering.
Deck beams - 2 in. by 1 ¾ in. at centres, fair taper to ends, spaced 18 in. The 3 Deck beams at the mast, fore-end coachroof and after-end cockpit 2 ½ in. x 2 ½ in. at centres, fair taper to ends.
Carlings for coachroof and cockpit 2 ½ in. x 2 ½ in, well kneed.
Coamings for coachroof 7/8 in. finished hardwood.
Beams coachroof 1¼ in. x 1¼ in. spaced 8 in. centres.
Top of coachroof ¾ in. canvas covered. No racing hatch in coachroof. Any skylight not to exceed 30 in. x 20 in. measured inside coamings and to be a fixture and not to be used as a racing hatch. No sliding hatch to exceed 24 in. x 21 in. in the opening.
Floor of Cabin and Cockpit – 7/8 in. thick
Cabin seats and risers – ¾ in. thick.
Chain 25 fathoms – 5/16 in. or an equivalent weight of ¼ in. chain.
Main Anchor 40 lbs., kedge 20 lbs. 20 fathoms 1¾ warp.
